The Rev. Dr. Abiel T. Khalema

Abiel Khalema was born in South Africa. He experienced his call to ministry after a political imprisonment and solitary confinement at age 19. He was ordained in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa. 

He studied theology in South Africa, Taipei, Tao Fong Shan-Hong Kong, Singapore, and studied Pastoral Psychology in Edmonton, Canada and United States. He served The United Church of Canada in Lac La Biche, AB, Beverly United Church and McDougall United Church in Edmonton, and Deer Lake United in Burnaby, BC, Union United Church in Montreal as interim minister for 18 months. . He served the General Council Office in Toronto for 12 years in the Ministry and Employment Unit as Program Coordinator for Ministry Personnel Programs and Resources. He then served Strathroy United Church for two years and eight months and Wyoming and Watford Unit Churches for a year. He is presently serving Wesley Knox United Church united h as supply minister. He retired from ministry June 30, 2015 after 33 year as a minister of the United Church of Canada. 

Abiel and Caroline are blessed with one daughter, and two sons and three granddaughters.
