Reopening Update: We are moving back to a modified Stage 2 of our reopening plan which temporarily suspends any in-person worship events or meetings. This aligns with regulations set out by the Province of Ontario. For more information, see the latest from our Reopening Committee here and provincial guidelines here.

We Morn

As leaders and members of Wesley-Knox United Church, our hearts go out to the Afzal family over their recent tragic loss.  They were members of the Muslim community.  They had taken their place in Canada’s multi-cultural society.  The Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths are joined together by a common sacred ancestry.  We feel the pain of this undeserved wrong.  We stand in solidarity with the Muslim Community and condemn the hateful actions which took place Sunday evening.  Our empathy and love go out to all the faithful at the horrific damage done to the Afzal family and our collective community.

From the Reaching Out Committee:

It has been a very difficult time in the last few days for our City.  The community continues to be in such grief.  Leaders from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim Communities are organizing a Multi-Faith March to End Hatred, for Friday June 11th at 7pm.  The 7km walk will go from the Hyde Park & S. Carriage To the London Muslim Mosque.  Members of the Reaching Out Committee will join the walk in solidarity (masked and staying 6ft away of course).

We know that all of Wesley-Knox United Church joins us in spirit.
